Review: Fandi Mata in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY
An establishment that has been getting a lot of press lately is Fandi Mata restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn -and rightfully so. It has been featured in accounts like SecretNY for it’s beautiful decor and good vibes.
I was researching a spot to take a friend to brunch and searching on GoogleMaps, when I stumbled upon this Mediterranean oasis. I immediately made a reservation for it’s opening time on Saturday, 11am. The pictures seriously don’t do this restaurant justice. You have to go in-person to experience it.
When you walk in, you are hit with high industrial ceilings and plants everywhere. There are two floors- the main and mezzanine. It gives off organic-boho vibes, to me it felt like a Greek beach club. It is a refurbished factory and has an industrial element to it, which the owners kept in tact right along with luscious plants and artisan pillows.
The food consisted of classic brunch food with Mediterranean flair. I got the shakshouka, one of my favorite brunch items. It came with warm pita bread and I enjoyed it. There was a variety of customers, from girls brunch to families and friends of all ages. There is even a lounge area when you first walk in I saw a couple getting a nice brunch drink.
Halfway through my meal a band started playing jazz music and it was delightful. Everyone was relaxed and enjoying their meal and company. I found out that on weekend nights there is live music and it is a very fun place to do a dinner or drinks with friends. Overall, I will definitely be back and bring visitors coming to explore a quintessential Brooklyn establishment.
